task 3


for task three we were asked to answer the following questions


  • what were your expectations on starting the course? to learn the basics and ins and outs of make up and hopefully progress to the net year.
  • what are your initial thoughts on west college scotland and the media make up course? so far i've had a good first year and the college and staff are really helpful, 
  • what is your funniest moment of college life so far? so far i think the funniest moment was when one of my class mates kat dressed up as a zombie and took me by surprise when she got of the train to realise it was her,
  • what is the most interesting thing you have learned so far? the most interesting thing i've learned so far is applying wigs i didn't realise there would be so much work involved,
  • who is your make up idol? i chose bobbi brown because she believes in enhancing a woman's natural beauty.
  • why do you want to be a make up artist? ive always been really interested in the make up industry and want to do a job that i enjoy and that is creative! and would hopefully like to pursue a career working behind the scenes in theatre,

for task seven i chose emily stibbs who is a top special effects make up artist who has worked in loads of films and period dramas through out the uk

heres some info on some of her latest work.

 
In 2014 between march and may emily worked on the film called clay that is a character driven short film, This film involved intense character makeup and hair with a 70's vibe, Some post mortem makeup, open wounds for some close ups. this film also contained some gorey work like torture wounds. Emily was the only make up artist  and hairstylist that worked on the film she also was the on site make up artist through out the filming.

In 2013 between october to december she also worked on a thriller film called gemini, where she  designed, created and applied all makeup and prosthetics for the film. This also included some gorey work such as torture wounds numerous bullet holes and even dead bodies. she also made prosthetics pieces for the film. She was also the only make up artist working in the film which meant having to work on and off set with a 16-20 hours a day of commitment.
